Big gold shining letters NICSMANN attracted my attention when I was walking on the ground floor at Starling Mall last month. Chic, modern and impressive, it gave me this overwhelming feeling that I must eat it this restaurant. Yay, my wish did come true when I was invited to a food tasting session at Nicsmann 1940 by Lewre organised by Openrice Malaysia.
Nicsmann 1940's by Lewre first oulet was open in TREC KL two years ago (2015) by Dato Lewre and Friendscino Group. It was to cater to the chic and create a new fashionable F&B brand in Malaysia. This Starling Mall branch is the second branch of Nicsmann 1940's by Lewre and was opened just about two months ago. I can feel the vibe as loud music of live band and colorful rotating spotlight greeted us when we walk in Nicsmann.
The atmosphere is lively, area spacious and very modern.
There is a section with liquor bar counter and 3 machines for dart throwing.

We were served two impressive cocktails that is the Coconut Nuts and Watermelon Love.
Coconut Nuts - RM40
A sip into this Coconut Nuts gives the punch as no other because there are Malibu, Rum, Banana Liquor and coconut cream in it. It is a favourite cooler among locals and mild liquor drinkers.
Watermelon Love - RM40
Trendy and delicately handcrafted watermelon, this drink tastes lovely with the added liquor. I feel that this is a better trendy cocktail than Coconut Nuts as I love the natural sweetness of the watermelon. Accompanied by dazzling lights, it will be indeed a memorable moment if you order this when dining here for special occasions.
Fresh Salmon Trout Carpaccio - RM26
The salmon here is fresh and very thinly sliced that it literally melts in the mouth. Salad greens and mushrooms are served alongside and topped with balsamic reduction for the extra zing! As a salmon fish crazy fan, this is one of the best dish here.
Seafood platter - RM160
A huge platter that can be shared by 4 - 6 pax and people normally order it on special occasions. It had the perfect match of combination of a dozen Grilled Green Mussels with tomato coulis, Cheesy baked John Dory Fish, Stuffed Calamari and one dozen Grilled Prawn Skewers. I like the stuffed calamari, fat, plumb and stuffed with seasoned mashed potatoes. The grilled prawns on skewers is well seasoned but the meat stuck are to the skewer stick. To me this cheesy dory fish shines above all as the meat is moist and compliments well the saltiness of the cheese.
Teriyaki Fresh Salmon Trout - RM48
Fresh Salmon trout is given a thorough sear on a hot pan thus giving it a healthy version. It was then glazed with teriyaki sauce and served with mashed potato and garden vegetables. Ya, this another of my fave, simple and yet healthy.
3-ribs Grilled Australian Rack of Lamb - RM64
A delectable dish, and the lamb is grilled with herbs and spices till scrumptious. Don't forget to dip the grilled lamb into the rosemary sauce as it brings it to a higher level, because the flavors combined well. There are mashed potato and garden vegetables as sides.
At present, the highlight here at Nicsmann 1940's by Lewre is Parmigiano Reggiano in cheese wheel or otherwise known as "The King of Cheese". Produced in Italy, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is a completely natural Gourmet Italian Cheese and well known as the king of Cheese because of its unique production, nutritional and organoleptic features. True Parmigiano Reggiano has a distinct salty flavor and hard texture.
Chef preparing pasta in the cheese wheel. One cheese wheel can last about 2-3 months.
To prepare Fresh durum pasta with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, first scrap the pieces of cheese to loosen it from the cheese wheel. Durum pasta is prepared and cooked on in pan first. Finally, the cooked pasta is ready, it is then transferred into the cheese wheel and mixed.
Voila, the pasta are all coated in cheese. Very cheesy, creamy and full of flavors and right amount of saltiness, wow, words just can't describe how good it is. Calling all cheese and pasta lovers, this is a must try dish!
There are 3 types of fresh durum pasta with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese made from cheese wheel
1. Grilled salmon - RM39.90
2. Beef Bacon - RM35.90
3. Trio Mushroom - RM35.90
It was fun to try stirring pasta in this big cheese wheel.
Dessert
Sizzling Brownies - RM24
Sizzling brownie is homemade chocolate brownie that is full of chocolate and nuts. It is served with vanilla ice cream and rich chocolate ganache. Tastes delicious but a bit too sweet for me.
Chocolate Lava - RM24.
Wah, I vouch for this dessert! The chocolate cake has just the right amount of sweetness. When cut the molten core flows out like lava. It is not messy as the cake still holds its shape and also retains its crispiness. Just heavenly when served with vanilla ice cream.
I enjoyed this last dish of dessert very much and went home smiling ^-^
