How to go to Resorts World Genting Highlands, Malaysia

Genting Resorts World at Genting Highlands, Malaysia now has the new gondola running from Awana Skyway station to Sky Avenue. A lot of new exciting happennings are up at Resorts World Genting highlands with the opening of the Sky Avenue station. The minute you reach Sky Avenue, you will be greeted by huge LED screens of sceneries, many new shops, restaurants and the brand new Sky Casino. Genting Highlands is at an altitude of 1740 m (5708ft) with a temperatures generally 5-10 Celsius lower in the range of 15-25 C range.

The cooler temperatures and easy access to Sky Avenue has made Resorts World Genting a major attraction to local Malaysian especially those living in the Klang Valley.  Going to Resorts World Genting has been my regular short holiday getaway from the heat and hustle bustle of Kuala Lumpur. There are Go Genting buses running from many strategic places such KLIA, major bus terminals in Klang Valley as well as vans from specific pickup points on the outskirts of KL.

The Go Genting buses that run from major bus stations in Kuala Lumpur are KL Sentral, Pudu Sentral, Putra Gombak, and 1 Utama Shopping Mall in Petaling Jaya. The bus fare is only around RM4 one way, and with discounts for seniors and OKU. This Go-Genting buses take you to Awana bus station and you take the escalators up to the Awana Skyway where you can take the Gondola to Sky Avenue at Resorts World Genting. For those who prefer to drive to Awana Skyway Station is only about 1 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. There are plenty of  car parking spaces which cost RM5.00.

While at the Awana Bus station, you can also just drop into the new Genting Simon Premium Outlet just next to it.

I usually book my return ticket as soon as I reach the Awana Bus Station so that I can plan my time for my return journey. The bus tickets are usually fully booked on weekends for the trip back to Kuala Lumpur. Tickets can be booked a few days ahead and the schedule can be seen from the Go Genting Bus Express Counter.

This is the fare and the timetable for the Go Genting buses from Awana Bus station to the various stations in Klang Valley.

This Awana Bus station is fully aircon and the buses are very punctual coming and leaving on the dot!

There are a few of this type of screens showing the schedule of the buses and which platforms the buses are suppose to pick up passengers. I feel that this station is clean, well maintained and the system is efficient, well done RWG.

After getting down from the bus, take the ascending escalators to go up the Awana Skyway Station for Gondola ride. This Gondola Skyway ride will take you to the top that is the Sky Avenue in Resorts World Genting. Oh yes, there are toilets on every floor at this station, so just go up to the next floor if the toilets are full on the ground floor. (I was caught queuing for a long time at the ground floor toilets once because there was a big tour group that just reached minutes before me)

Tickets for the Skyway Gondola can be bought at the self-service kiosk or the counter. For stantard gondola it is RM8.00 one way and RM16.00 two ways (return). It is a very scenic ride up with lush vegetation, and there is the glass bottom gondola where you can also look directly down from where you are sitting. Glass Gondola fare is RM50.00 one way.

Breath taking views from gondola

Oh yes, you can also take a free stop at the Chin Swee Temple and tour this temple and then get back to the Gondola to continue your journey up. I am amazed at the efficiency of number of escalators connecting the Chin Swee Station to the Chin Swee Temple. There are Buddha statues, beautiful landscaped paths with fresh air and good views from this temple.

Do you know that it is very convenient to go up until First World Hotel at Resorts World Genting by van? I was surprised and amazed at the ease of taking a van in my neighbourhood. Moreover, it costs only RM13 for Genting members and RM25 for non members for a return day same trip. I have listed the following pickup points around Klang Valley.

With all this wide network of buses and vans, Genting will be my frequent getaway from the hot temperatures in Kuala Lumpur. Moreover, there are now lots of restaurants, branded shops, amusement park and well designed food court. It is a very convenient day trip and the fare is only RM24 to go up to a resort to enjoy the cool weather and chill!
