Scenic Whistler Blackcomb, my Western Canada tour (1)

Recently, I arranged my own tour to Western USA and Canada, went across the Canadian Rockies, Alaska cruise and places of interest around Vancouver. The whole tour was fun, exhilarating and save alot of money as compared to booking an organized tour from a local tour company in Malaysia. I will be blogging about the whole trip and cost later. This is the first blog on this tour therefore I just put it as part (1) first.

Whistler Blackcomb is a winter hill resort 121 km north of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Whistler was the co-host of the 2010 winter Olympics. It is about 1282 m high, accessible by chairlift and gondola. One of the best ski resort in the world, it is equally popular during summer time as mountain bikers will be zipping up and down the slopes. I went on a day trip to Whistler from Vancouver with a local tour company which cost $50 for the return bus ride to Whistler (including the ticket for the ride up) and a halfway stop a Shannon Waterfalls. The Peak2Peak Gondola ride of about 11 minutes is fantastic with lovely scenic view of snowcapped mountain tops dotted by pine trees and mountain trails.

Take the Peak 2 Peak gondola to Blackcomb mountain and then track up to the Alpine summit.

Family quality time on the road less taken

Chairlift at Blackcomb mountain

Whistler and Blackcomb mountains will be covered in snow in winter making it a heaven for skiers. There are 37 lifts and the longest continuous lift system the Peak 2 Peak Gondola connects Whistler to Blackcomb mountains. There a total of scenic 8,171 acres of accessible terrain for skiers in winter and mountain bikers in summer. Therefore I highly recommend this awesome place for anyone who is visiting Vancouver, Canada.
