A 5-Star Hotel Review: Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur

"Mummy, I can see the tall KL Tower from here!", I heard this little girl shouting excitedly pointing to the KL Tower while playing in the swimming pool. Yup, this is a nice view from the swimming pool at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur is a long-established 5* hotel in Kuala Lumpur that needs no introduction as it is well known to locals and foreign tourists.

I was just as excited as the little girl when my daughter told me she won a free 3 days 2 nights stay at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur! I checked in on 7 December 2021, so was lucky to see the beautiful Christmas decorations in this hotel.

This huge revolving Christmas Tree Of Life is Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur's annual charity project 'Embrace the Gift of Life' in order to support children with severe heart ailments and other serious medical conditions. There are so many lovely cute small trains/cars with the names of their donors written on them. Many thanks to Shangri-La Hotel for this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project in helping children with medical conditions.

There is the great ambiance in the main hall and I particularly love the Poolside Terrace which offers a perfect place to unwind facing a tropical garden landscape. Here I can have Hi-Tea-style snacks and beverages with friends while enjoying the awesome scenery of waterfall and colorful Koi fish swimming inside the pool.

Free Fish food is provided for guests to feed the Koi fish.

There is a total of eight lifts servicing the rooms, and the corridors are wide.

Beds are comfortable with nice fluffy pillows.

Under the side bed table, a torchlight is given and a well-placed night light inside it. So no need to switch on other lights (such as lights inside the toilet) at night.

There are two things that fascinate me in this room: one is how well the complimentary beverages are kept from view and second, a set of cutlery are provided but well kept in a secret compartment. The set of cups, water heater, and complimentary beverages are cleverly hidden inside the cabinet under the television! A set of cutlery is also provided and nicely hidden inside a side table (check it out in the video below).

Clean, big toilet with bathtub and toilet seat that has an automatic self-cleaning bidet.
Overall I love this hotel and its amenities, but personally, I do not get the overwhelming feeling. Maybe because I tend to compare it to newer hotels that are bright with a fresh coat of paints.

Lemon Garden Cafe

Lemon Garden provides extensive buffet spread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are many tantalizing local and international dishes in the open theatre kitchens.

I like the way a piece of glass is placed in front of the food separating guests from going too near the prepared food. Moreover, All the food is served to guests by chefs, so no touching of food or utensils from any guests. This concept is very good during these Covid times to stop the transmitting of virus and there are social distancing between people and food too!

Guests have to take the plate from high above over the glass barrier.

Yummy! Wide selection of food from Western to Eastern for the breakfast buffet.
Love all the food served in Lemon Garden and the friendly staff here! Yup, 5 stars to this Lemon Garden Cafe.
